For those of you who are not familiar with Mormon doctrine, we believe that this earthly mortal state we are in is temporary, that one day we will all be resurrected, meaning our bodies and spirits will be reunited and will be restored to a perfect state, free from any physical burdens or trials we had while on earth.
This week I am very aware that we are just that, mortal beings, and regardless of what we do we will have physical trials. I got the flu or food poisoning yesterday and am still feeling pretty wiped out today. The kids are all getting these nasty coughs. We got word that our friends had head lice. So we have been checking our heads constantly this week, luckily no signs of infestation. But any little itch makes me panic. Haha. Although Kevin's getting around pretty well he is still fairly limited. Talk of hip replacements and bones deteriorating just makes me aware that these bodies aren't meant to last. Can't we just be resurrected beings already and not have to deal with all this crud? Seriously though. Haha.
We went up to our cabin this weekend with some friends. As always the drive was pretty eventful. We got about 15 miles down the road when Calum sits up in his seat and announces that he forgot to pack his Minion pajamas and we needed to turn around. We are mean parents and told him he had other pajamas and would be fine without his minion pajamas for two nights. He then had a meltdown. Screaming and crying and hyperventilating because we weren't turning around. Calum sure knows how to throw a tantrum. Ailee slept.
We stopped in McCall to check out some of the festivities at the winter carnival. We saw some fun ice sculptures.

The kids and I marched in the Torchlight Parade. The kids had glowsticks and such and the firefighters led the way with actual giant torches. The parade only went about two blocks, so that was good since it was just me trying to herd these three turkeys. Kevin for some reason didn't want to march down the icy street in the dark on his crutches :) Ailee was terrified of Smokey the Bear who was standing right next to us and Calum kept asking me to carry him. I think Miles was the only one who didn't complain.
We met up with Kevin and some of our friends down by the lake to watch the fireworks. They were pretty awesome. I didn't realize we would be so close. Miles wasn't even phased by the noise, he liked the bright lights.
We had so much fun at the Ranch. Eating yummy food, playing games, lip syncing, sledding, playing in snow forts. The kids were in heaven. Our friend Sophie had these light up princess boots that Ailee wore constantly. They were probably three sizes too big for her, but she didn't care. Luckily Sophie was nice and let her wear them.
The kids kept finding sticks and playing with them. Calum got really upset because Barkley (Kelli's dog) took his stick one time. And then another time Calum came in the house with like a 7 ft stick, "Mom look at my stick, we're going to bring it home." Ummm... no we're not buddy, sorry. Haha. Cody even made all of them face masks and swords and they had a spook alley. Haha. Creepy little kids.
1st night on the right, 2nd night on the left. Haha. When I came in the room one night, Ailee sat up and looked at Calum who was laying right by her feet, she kind of pushed him then laid back down and fell asleep. Haha.
Miles is officially 7 months. He sits up on his own and army crawls all around. We love him and his happy little personality so much.

Despite the worry of puking kids and head lice we really are doing good. And honestly I can't complain. It could be worse. We're here to be tested and tried. Plus I get to spend mortality with these cuties. Sick or not, I'm so grateful that we have each other to struggle with and lift each other up. We really are so blessed.
