Bear Grylls

I've decided that Calum is quite the outdoorsman. I knew this before but this week has definitely verified this thought. It's been really nice out lately and we have been soaking it in, with trips to the pool, zoo and the temple.
At the zoo he liked the animals, but he kept getting distracted by the rocks, dirt, grass and leaves. Venturing off to play in little alcoves under the trees. He did that a lot this week.  He would plop down wherever he found dirt and start searching for ants. At the park, the temple, our parking lot. If there's dirt, he's in it, and is content to stay there for as long as I will let him. Calum as always loved the animals at the zoo, but it was the bear this week that stood out to him most. He kept imitating it when we got home. Crawling around, growling and pretending to bite things. All the while making sure to tell me, "I'm a bear, rawr!" This reminded me of the outdoor survival man Bear Grylls. Basically, I think Calum is going to be his generations Bear Grylls.
He's not afraid to get messy...

He'll even eat dirt if he must. (enjoying his dirt cup reward after a hard day's labor planting flowers with dad)

He isn't afraid of animals. In addition to bathing these two wild dogs, he got close enough to see the whites of a goose's eyes who started hissing at him and Calum didn't even flinch.

He's pretty daring. One of his favorite things to do is pretend to fall off the bed head first. He'll start inching off "Oh no mom, I'm falling." Then I grab his legs and dangle him off. He thinks he's hilarious. He'll even do it when I'm not paying attention. Then he really does fall off the bed head first. He thinks it's funny. Who is this kid?
(Yes, he's in midair. What a stud.)

He desperately needs fresh air!
Calum is constantly begging to go outside. Even if it is just out onto our balcony to play with bubbles, chalk and look for the school bus.

Always finding ways to make use of whatever he might find.

He's not afraid to get a little sun burnt.
Missed a spot while applying sunscreen, poor kid.

Knows how to set up camp. "Of course, mom, of course."

(also, i think he's being a bear, or hiding from a bear in this picture. haha)

He's like a fish in the water.

He can find fresh fruit anywhere.

And did I mention he loves that vitamin D?

He knows how to work that camera.
Almost everyday when we walk outside he sits down on the same stair and says "take a picture of me mom." Seriously, almost every day. Haha.

Most importantly this kid doesn't get by on good looks alone, he know's how to sell himself.
me- "Why are you so cute?"
him- "I'm little."
me- "You're cute Calum."
him- "I'm not cute."
me- "What are you?"
him- "I'm a Foulger."
me- "A Foulger?"
him- "Yes, I'm Calum Foulger, give me five!"

Basically, we had a good week with our little bear. He never ceases to entertain, whether he's telling me to feel the baby in his belly, insisting we get a Costco hot dog, singing "Bringing home a baby bumble-dog" at home or singing hymns at church. He is constantly making us smile and love the outdoors more than ever! If you ask me, he's good at what he does. Haha.
We had an awesome Memorial Day with friends. We are so excited that summer has begun and that many more outdoor adventures await!

A Leash

I used to mock the cruel parents who would dare put their kids on a leash. What a odd thing to do. They aren't dogs, they should be free to roam around and explore like little kids do. But in the last couple weeks I have come to realize the error of my ways. I never realized kids like Calum existed. Calum constantly is trying to wriggle free from my grasp and sprint far out of sight. This happens everywhere we go, the store, the park, restaurants, our parking lot, the zoo. Needless to say it tests my patience. It gets really old waddling after my two year old who is laughing saying "Come get me Mom," or "Run like Dash" when I am almost into my third trimester. Not to mention the panic that I feel that he is going to run into the street or get seriously lost. I am seriously starting to consider this whole leash idea...

Miraculously we still manage to get out of the house and back in one piece. Some of our adventures...
Sidewalk Chalk.

Getting slushies, and spilling them :)

Climbing trees.

Watching TV.

Eating "Graham Crappers" and candy from Christmas.

Reorganizing the kitchen.

 Leading a marching band.
He tells me, "I need a drum mom." and sings "We're following the leader." Kevin and I both don't know where he picked this up. Or this. Haha.

 Running around after church.

Trying on glasses.

Skyping with grandparents.
He got really mad on Sunday when we called Papa on the phone and not on the computer. Haha. Seriously, was so mad.

Acting silly.

Cleaning up his messes.
I told him we were going to get out of the tub the other night, and he wouldn't get out til he put all his toys in this bucket. It was so funny to watch how determined he was. He tried quite a few times before he got everything in. Too funny.

Having lunch with dad.
Calum loves going to the temple. When we turn the corner to it he usually starts yelling "It's the temple." "Dad's work." "DAAAAAAD." Or something like that. His favorite thing is to check out the tractor, but he was digging on the worm he found today too. Haha.

As you can tell this week has been a little crazy. I mean, I'm considering buying a leash for my child!! Kevin has groups coming in every night at the temple to help with the planting and still has classes two nights a week. Calum and I have been eating a little bit like college students; chili dogs, cereal, spaghetti, you know. It's hard to cook for basically just me, cause Calum doesn't eat much. It will be nice when Kevin isn't so busy and can help me chase this little hooligan around. He really is so fun and cute and entertaining, but man, he sure knows how to wear out a pregnant lady!

Mama

Not only am I so thankful to get to be a mama to this cute little bumblebee...

...but I am also so grateful for my own amazing mom, and all of the amazing moms in my life that have been such great examples to me and helped make me who I am today! Here are a few of these amazing women :)
My own cute mama who never stops loving or caring.

Love my cute sisters and grandma. Such amazing examples of patience and love.

And of course, the best mother-in-law in the world, who makes me feel like one of her own.

Love you all tons! Can't imagine my life without these amazing women in it.

On with my mothering adventures of the week!
I was really excited about receiving my new car seat cover. So naturally I busted out the infant car seat to put it on and admire the sheer sweetness of it.

Calum of course had other plans, and thought it was so funny to get in it and act like a rrr rrr Big Baby.

Still just loving the outfits this kids comes up with!

Making his Papa proud and playing catch with himself.

Cute boy has been loving the nice weather and playing at the park.

My boys spoiled me rotten this Mother's Day weekend. Kevin and I got to go do sealings at the temple, where Kevin uprooted these flowers for me :) For real though. Haha. They were coming out anyway. #perksofworkingatthetemple

Then that night he took me out to see The Great Gatsby at the Alamo theater by our house. You eat dinner while watching the movie! It was so fun. And since you can order the whole way through the movie, we ate way too much! There is also a See's candy right there so I suggested we go get some chocolate. Kevin told me that it went out of business and I was devastated!!

The next morning I discovered Kevin had lied to me about See's Candy not being there anymore. He had already bought me a box of chocolates from there :) Haha. Sneaky Kevin. Also, Calum's Mother's Day present to me was sleeping in 3 hours longer than usual!! It was pretty much amazing.

We had an awesome Sunday. Kevin teamed up with some of our friends to throw a scrumptious dinner together for us expectant moms. (Kevin made rolls from scratch! What a stud.)

It was really nice out, so naturally the kids wanted to run around naked.

Poor kid must have partied too hard this weekend, because now he is sick :(
He fell asleep on the couch this morning watching cartoons, sweet boy.

Being a mom is more work than I seriously ever imagined. It's the job that never has a quitting time. I am constantly busy and exhausted both emotionally and physically. But all my hard work is definitely worth it. I love this little ninja so much and am so glad that I get to teach him and love him and watch him grow. Motherhood is definitely the most rewarding thing I could be doing with my life right now and I thank God everyday for blessing me with my sweet crazy boy that I love so much!
