A Week of Fun!

This week was so busy. Kevin finished his first class for his masters program and is off to a great start. Finished the class with a 98% what a nerd :) I'm so proud of him and all his hard work. As always I followed Calum around and picked up his messes. Sometimes I wonder why I even try to keep my house clean... Yesterday, I was in the bathroom doing my hair and I could hear him in the living room saying "throw" followed by a thump. He kept saying it over and over each time followed by what I thought was the sound of a ball bouncing on the ground. As I continued to listen I realized he was on the kitchen table and throwing stuff off. I suddenly remembered that earlier that day I had set a cardboard box full of about 60 apples on the kitchen table. As I came into the living room I saw about 20 apples on the ground. Story of my life. I guess I will be making applesauce after all :) 

Calum went to preschool. OK well not really. I helped my friend who is teaching preschool in a CO-Op kind of thing and so Calum tagged along and played with the kids and colored and what not. He really likes kids. He also wore this fireman's hat around all day the other day and as always loves shoes. 

We had the first week of our Bunco group this week and it was a success :) Lots of fun to get together without babies and just play. It was movie themed so a whopping 3 of us dressed up. I am Catwoman and Nicole is Zooey Deschanel, Lexy was candy from the movie and all her props had been eaten by the time we took this picture. Too funny.

 We also got to see our Aggies play this week in Ft Collins! It made us pine for Logan a little bit.

We tailgated, chased Calum around, visited with friends, and pulled out a "W." Such a fun night. So glad we could go and indoctrinate Calum in the ways of Aggiedom :)

Kevin's sister and fam cam into town this week so we got to show them around Denver a little bit. Here we're at the state capitol. Exactly a mile above sea level. 5280 baby!

 Calum was a trooper during all our adventures. We kept him up late and got him off schedule, but maybe knowing that he was going to meet the Rockies mascot Dinger at the end of it made all the craziness worthwhile. I know it did for me :) Haha. Just another Fun Filled Fall week with the Fabulous Foulgers!

I Do What I Want

The big news this week is that our prayers have been answered and Kevin is going to take over the head grounds position the first part of October! We are so excited and so grateful to everyone who has supported us. We know the Lord is looking out for us and we couldn't be more grateful. The Foulger house is a lot more relaxed than it has been the last couple weeks and we are looking forward to what lies ahead! To Celebrate we went to Steak N' Shake last night and ate way too much food! Calum had mini corn dogs and was shoveling them in his mouth faster than he could chew. I was trying to block his fork from his mouth and he would get so mad and scream and shake. Kevin and I were trying to hide the fact that we were laughing at him. He is definitely starting to get an attitude and throw little fits when he doesn't get his way.

Mr. Independent, he rarely looks at the camera and when he does he almost never smiles. I'm pretty sure all my pictures this week are of the back of his head. I do apologize for my stubborn son.

I'm not trying to say he's not fun and cute because he definitely is. He just is his own man and can't be coerced into doing something he doesn't want to. 

There was a rainy day this week so Kevin got to come home early. He tried to get me out of the house so he could do some homework but instead we partied. We built a fort, played Uno, made popcorn, and watched Rock-a-Doodle. Calum loved hanging out with his daddy. Once that was all over, it had kind of cleared up so we went to the free day at Hudson Gardens.

Calum was in heaven just running around. It was nice and quiet. There was seriously no one there because it had been raining all day. Well minus the wedding that was going on, I'm sure they were glad it had cleared up too.

Calum thought these were dandelions and was trying to blow the seeds off. It was pretty cute.

 Calum had his 18 month appointment this week. He is 22 pounds. He's kind of a shrimp; 30th percentile for his weight but 75th for his head. I didn't realize he had a big head. Haha. Maybe it's just cause he's so smart. Too bad all I can ever capture is the back of it. His face is pretty cute too :)

Do As I'm Doing

 Calum is officially 18 months which means he was able to go to Nursery on Sunday. Kevin and I have been counting down the days til he could go! It was really nice to actually get to listen to the lessons on Sunday instead of just chasing Calum around. How did he do you ask...

I took him in and he walked over hopped on a chair and started doing a puzzle. I waited around for 5 or so minutes but he never even came over to me. He was just having a ball playing with the kids. Then when I came back to pick him up he just looked at me and kept playing with his toys. I had to go pick him up to make him leave. Haha. He loves kids and toys. I'm glad he likes it. It made Sunday a very good day :)

Maybe we can attribute it to Nursery, but Calum is getting more into coloring. So we have tried to do some crafty things this week.

Calum is still a good helper. His favorite chore this week was sweeping.

Calum insisted on bringing this ball to the park with us the other day. So I put him in his seat and handed him the ball. He held it in his lap for the entire 20 minute ride to the park. He was so happy in the back seat just smiling and so happy to have his ball.

Papa, you'll be proud of this. Lately Calum has been grabbing a ball, lying on the ground and trying to play catch with himself. his is a game that his Papa taught him. I don't know when the last time he played it was, so it was funny that he randomly started doing it this week. He must just miss his Papa.

Calum is kind of a ham. The other night we were reading scriptures and Calum was drinking some milk. After a few verses he decided to dump it out. (He's been doing this a lately and gets in trouble for it). So Kevin and I were trying to discipline him and clean up the mess when Calum looks up at Kevin and growls. Kevin and I both looked at each other and just busted up laughing. Calum of course realized we thought it was funny and started laughing and growling some more.

 Calum is definitely getting bigger. Not just cause now he's in nursery. He is picking up on things so quick these days. He saw a picture of my mom yesterday and said "Mamma." I called my mom up to have him say it for her and when she said "I love you" he gave the phone a kiss :) It's cute thats he's putting things together  like that. Another example, he was eating Kix cereal the other day and some fell into his bib so I spooned it out and put it back in his bowl. The next time some fell in his bib he took his spoon and got some out and put them back in his bowl.
Calum's is going to love learning the song "Do as I'm Doing" in Nursery because that is totally the stage he's in right now. He copies everything we do and tries to copy everything we say. I'm starting to realize the impact that my example will have on him and it is seeming like a daunting task. I'd better get back to trying to perfect myself so Calum doesn't pick up on any of my bad habits! :)

Goin Swimmin

Kevin asked me this week "Do you do anything but hang out at the pool?" I laughed but then had to admit that this week, pretty much all we did during the day was play at the pool. It was the last week the pools were open so I thought I'd better take full advantage of them while we can. We had lots and lots of fun. Unfortunately I didn't get one picture because Calum is kind of a crazy man these days and didn't leave anytime for lounging or snapping photos.

Calum is a little too fearless. In the zero entry pools he would walk into the deep area over and over. He wasn't content unless the water was about to his chin. Which is scary because then when he loses his footing and falls he goes under the water and can't get up himself because he is too buoyant. The other scary thing is he is quick!! He would scamper over to the deep end of the pool, put his feet in and try to scoot in! All the while I'm knocking kids out of the way trying to get to him. So needless to say, our trips to the pool were not relaxing. But Calum sure had a good time. He would swing on hand rails, blow bubbles and even dunk his whole head in. I'm telling you he's a maniac! I'm kind of glad the swimming season is over, I don't think my nerves could handle much more :)

 Calum is becoming a whiz at the phone these days. This week he sent Kevin and animated smiley face :) and the following text to one of my friends...

"I'm at the dr office. I'll call ya in a bit." (He tapped into the quick texts on my phone) Seriously, so funny. Who does that?

We also started a babysitting group with our friends where we trade off watching all the kids. So this was how we spent our Saturday night :) Calum was pretty excited to have his girlfriends over.

And when we couldn't be at the pool or doing those other fun things we were listening to Calum's constant jabbering. We are starting to understand some of it. He says "What is that?" and "Help me" but we still can't figure out what it means when he says "Dobby" and he says it all the time, and with purpose, so we know it means something but we can't quite figure it out. Maybe we will discover it's meaning this week when we aren't distracted by the deep end of the swimming pool.
