My wonderful husband gave me an early Mothers Day present this week! That's right a gently used sewing machine. And I seriously couldn't be more excited :) I have been wanting one forever. I keep finding patterns and things that I want to make and my friends were getting sick of me using their machines :) Now I finally have my own. Complete with a nifty sewing basket. Kevin came home with it after work one day and the next day I was looking for stuff around the house that I could sew. Haha. So I mended some stuff and threw some quick crafts together. The machine works like a charm the only downside is that it may smell a little bit like pot. Haha. Nothin some lysol wipes couldn't fix though. But it was pretty funny. So excited! I'm sure you can look forward to me showing off some sweet crafts I make in the near future!
New found talent...
Ok so I am going to toot my own horn but I seriously had no idea I had this in me. The last time I tried to sketch a person was in 7th grade art class. I had a picture of my dad that I was supposed to draw and needless to say it was pretty much an epic fail. I wish I had the picture, (pretty sure I could scrounge it up at my parents house, I know it's there somewhere. haha) it seriously looks like a deranged alien monkey boy. It doesn't look anything like the original picture. So after that failed attempt, I deemed myself a horrible draw-er (pretty sure thats not a word) and never tried to draw anything lifelike ever again. But the other night me and Kevin some how started talking about our artistic ability and decided to try and sketch each other. They didn't turn out very lifelike either but the next day I decided I was going to find a picture and try to draw it and to my amazement this is what the finished product looked like. I was seriously shocked!
I was really proud of myself when Calum pointed to the picture the next day and said Dada. Later we realized that he says that about most anything he points to and still doesn't quite realize that it means dad. Haha. But anyway I had to share and I guess I'd better start to cultivate my new found talent.
Ok, enough about me, on to the good stuff...
We had a good week. Although we were all kind of sick this week we managed to find ourselves a new apartment closer to Kevin's work. It is still an old apartment like the one were in now but we're excited because there's a little more space, it's in a nicer area and it'll be less of a commute. Hooray!
Calum has figured out how to push the buttons on the microwave, throw mini tantrums where he kicks his legs and flails his body... not so fun. He will stick his face in the bath tub and try to blow bubbles, and on occasion you can catch him trying to whistle. It's pretty cute :) He has gotten more snuggly with us over the last few months which is really fun but that also means that sometimes he thinks he should be rocked back to sleep which is not so fun. All in all he's the cutest kid I know and we love him tons and tons!
So in primary when the kids learn songs they usually have pictures to help them remember the words. As I was looking at the pictures/videos this week I couldn't help but think they fit so perfectly with one of my favorite primary hymns. So I am going to share my improvised version of the song with visual aids :)

And if that didn't make you smile heres a clip of Calum trying to drink out of a cup.
Hope you have a good week! I know we will :)
