Estes Park

Oh my goodness! We've had such a busy last couple weeks that I am oh so behind, so I will do my best to get up to speed. We went to the Nature and Science museum with some friends a few weeks back. Calum had a ball playing with the hands on stuff and trying to climb into the exhibits.

Ailee was a good sport. I feel like I can't please both children ever, because if we stay home and let Ailee take good naps and stay on schedule Calum gets bored cause there's only so much he can do in our apartment. Where on the other hand if we go out and about and let Calum run around and play with friends then Ailee gets shafted because her schedule gets thrown and she gets so tired and is stuck in her stroller all day. I guess such is life.

What was really fun was getting to spend the long weekend up in Estes Park with my parents. They'd been saying for weeks that they were going to make a trip out to Colorado, and they were finally able to make it happen. It was so fun to get to play with them and check out beautiful Rocky Mountain National Park with them. Calum was pretty excited to see there camper. He told me, "Their camper has treats, a bathroom and a bed." Apparently it made a pretty big impression on him last time they came out. Haha. Of course we ate lots of yummy food and went swimming every day we were there.
Calum had so much fun playing with his Mamma and Papa, they are so much fun and even bought him a dog chew toy which he was pretty pumped about. Haha.
The river was so high. This was the area that had a lot of really bad flooding last fall. It was crazy to see the damage the flood made.
I think it rained on us almost every day. The worst was when we went up into the park. We all piled into Marv and took a driving tour of the park. We were able to get out at a couple places and hike around. It even started hailing on us when Calum was trying to go to the bathroom on the side of the road. Haha. Pretty eventful.
We saw so much wildlife! Calum was pretty excited the first few deer or elk we saw, and I think by the end of our trip it was just like seeing a bunch of cows to him. He wasn't as excited. Haha.

As far as we could take the road.

Calum loved hiking around on the rocks and throwing them in the river. He got a little too excited one time and hucked a little raccoon toy that Mamma just got him in the river too. He was pretty bummed.

This is when Calum told us he had to go potty and then it started to downpour. Nice Papa got soaked while Calum stood there forever, and never went. Ha.

The next day we wandered around town. Stopped at a few taffy shops, and ice cream shop and the Stanley Hotel. Ailee was pretty excited about her first taste of ice cream and would get so mad when we took it away.

The Stanley Hotel is supposedly haunted. It's the hotel that The Shining is based on. However Dumb and Dumber was also filmed there. Haha. Calum was walking around and said, "Look at the ghosts!" Some lady was down there I guess and got all excited. She said,"The children can see them." Turns out he was pointing to three little ghost figurines on the table. Hahaha.

We took Calum to a little fishing pond up there and Kevin and Papa helped Calum reel in his first fish :)

Mamma and Papa came back to Denver with us and let us party at there camper with them on the lake. Calum and Ailee were being pretty cute and making each other laugh on the way home one night.

It was so fun to see Mamma and Papa and party with them. I'm not going to lie, my favorite part was when my mom locked herself out of the room in her underwear and then tried to bust out the window screen to get back in. Pretty awesome. Haha. We love you guys and miss you too much. As i'm posting this Calum is asking, "Where are Mamma and Papa? Can we go to their house?" Next time can't come soon enough!
