Kevin's poor truck quit on him. He took her up skiing on Saturday and she overheated and died. Me and the kids loaded into the car and drove an hour to go rescue him. Calum kept saying "Pup's save the day!" He was glad we could go rescue dad from the mountain. Mahana (Kevin's truck) was towed to the teeny town of Silver Plume where it has been for the last week. Kevin's going to go up this Saturday to bring it back to Denver and have it looked at. If it is was they say it is we will probably have to lay sweet old Mahana to rest.
While dad was skiing, mom was sewing. We had a lazy snow day and I finally got Ailee's crib quilt all pieced together. Now I just need grandma Ramey to quilt it for me :)
Went on a hot date with Kevin. Ailee slept and we ate some delish comida. It was awesome
Ailee was feeling left out and had to remind us that she was there :) I threw the onesie away, and our waitress met me right outside the bathroom door to ask me if I needed help. Haha. It was pretty awesome.
I ran to the store the other night when it was snowing, and Calum kept begging to go outside and make a snowman. The snow was perfect snowman making consistency so Kevin gathered some and brought it in during Calum's tub. Calum thought it was the coolest.
Since Calum was so intrigued by cornstarch I decided to show him a better (supervised) way to play with it. We made some Ooblec and he loved it! Thanks Pinterest.
Since we were are currently a one car family we spent lots of time at home. Inside. Going a little crazy... But we did get in some quality snuggle time :) Love these two.
Our friend is letting Ailee borrow her exersaucer. Of course Calum had to try it out too!
This weeks mischief...
an entire roll of toilet paper, and a huge bite out of my chapstick.
But he is pretty cute, and he sometimes reads his books with Ailee :)
This girl is just too cute to not take pictures of!
My friend Sally took these awesome pictures of this cute girl.
Somehow, these two kiddos keep me so busy!! It gets a little overwhelming changing babies, feeding them, doing dishes, changing babies, laundering clothes, feeding our family healthy meals, cleaning up messes, picking up toys, entertaining babies, teaching them, changing them, grocery shopping, keeping a strong relationship with Kevin, Staying close to the savior, budgeting, feeding babies, and soothing babies. And doing all of this without a goodnights sleep. I have so much to think about and do for our little family and it never is even close to being done. I rarely get entirely ready for the day, I never read, and I haven't worked out in over a year! Sometimes I forget who I am and what I'm doing all of this for. My life is so crazy right now and all I do is sit at home all day!! I'm so glad for all the wonderful moms in my life who are such an example to me. And those out there who relate to me so well. It keeps me sane knowing that I'm not the only one who feels like everyday is a circus.
I read this article the other day and she described it so well...
"When I was a mama of three very tiny, very messy, very beautiful rug rats, we had DAYS THAT WENT ON FOR LIFETIMES. Craig left at 6:00 a.m. every morning and as I watched his showered, ironed self leave the house I felt incredibly blessed and thrilled to have so much time alone with my babies and incredibly terrified and bitter to have so much time alone with my babies. If you don't believe that all of those feelings can exist at once -- well, you've never been a parent to many tiny, messy, beautiful rug rats.
When Craig returned each day at 6:00 p.m. (he actually returned at 5:50 but took aSTUNNINGLY LONG TIME TO GET THE MAIL) he'd walk through the door, smile and say -- "So! How was your day?"
This question was like a spotlight pointed directly at the chasm between his experience of a "DAY" and my experience of a "DAY." How was my day?
The question would linger in the air for a moment while I stared at Craig and the baby shoved her hand in my mouth like they do -- while the oldest screamed MOMMY I NEED HELP POOING from the bathroom and the middle one cried in the corner because I NEVER EVER EVER let her drink the dishwasher detergent. NOT EVER EVEN ONCE, MOMMY!!! And I'd look down at my spaghetti-stained pajama top, unwashed hair, and gorgeous baby on my hip -- and my eyes would wander around the room, pausing to notice the toys peppering the floor and the kids' stunning new art on the fridge...
And I'd want to say:
How was my day? Today has been a lifetime. It was the best of times and the worst of times. There were moments when my heart was so full I thought I might explode, and there were other moments when my senses were under such intense assault that I was CERTAIN I'd explode. I was both lonely and absolutely desperate to be alone. I was saturated -- just BOMBARDED with touch and then the second I put down this baby I yearned to smell her sweet skin again. I was simultaneously bored out of my skull and completely overwhelmed with so much to do. Today was too much and not enough. It was loud and silent. It was brutal and beautiful. I was at my very best today and then, just a moment later, at my very worst. At 3:30 today I decided that we should adopt four more children, and then at 3:35 I decided that we should give up the kids we already have for adoption. Husband -- when your day is completely and totally dependent upon the moods and needs and schedules of tiny, messy, beautiful rug rats your day is ALL OF THE THINGS and NONE OF THE THINGS, sometimes within the same three minute period. But I'm not complaining. This is not a complaint, so don't try to FIX IT. I wouldn't have my day Any.Other.Way. I'm just saying -- it's a hell of a hard thing to explain -- an entire day with lots of babies."

Anyway, that is exactly how I feel about mom life right now. It is crazy as ever, but we are doing our best, and that all that is asked of us right? Off to change another diaper!
