The Foulger's go to Washington

We drove to Washington to spend Thanksgiving with Kevin's parents. They are serving a Military Relations mission at Joint Base Lewis McChord for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
The kids did really well in the car. We drove along the Columbia River for a good chunk of it and it was so pretty.

Finally made it to rainy Washington.

We drove up to Tacoma on Tuesday and met my friends Trinelle and Angela for dinner. I hadn't seen them for years and it was so good to catch up!

We walked out onto the dock to check out the sound. Calum was a little unsure of the swaying dock.

Wednesday Elder and Sister Foulger showed us around JBLM.
We got a good view of Mt Rainer

Met some of the people Keith and Ilene work with, and then walked around the hospital while they did their visits.

After that we went to the Army Museum on the base. Ailee and me napped in the car while the rest of the crew checked out the tanks and guns and such. Calum didn't have fun at all. Haha

I guess Calum kept saluting and saying "Attention." Silly Boy.

Thursday we had a nice and lazy Thanksgiving. Relaxing, watching T.V. and hanging out.

Calum and Ailee were good little helpers.

The beauty of a small Thanksgiving was that each of the adults got their own pie! Haha.

I announced that there was a turkey in my belly...

I mean baby :) There's a baby in my belly! Wahoo! But more on that later :)

On Friday we went up to the Children's Museum in Tacoma. The kids didn't have fun at all ;) Ok, so they were basically in heaven. So fun.

On Saturday Keith and Ilene watched the kids and me and Kevin went and explored Seattle.
It was actually the only clear day we had up there. Haha. But it was frigid!

We met up with my cousin Ashley and her fan. They showed us around a bit.

We checked out the Gum Wall (Alley)

We stuck a piece of gum on it. When you got up close it stunk. It grossed this pregnant girl out a little, if you can't tell by my face!

We also lucked out and got to see our friends Rachel and McKAy who live in Chicago, but were out visiting family for the holiday. So that was fun. We all went and got chowder together. Mmm.
(Also I look fatter than I actually am. I didn't have a purse so my coat was the substitute. I had a sleeve of crackers, an orange, a package of socks we bought, my phone and a bunch of other random stuff. Haha.)

We checked out Pike's Place, and even bought some shrimp to fry up later.

We walked a few blocks to check out the annual gingerbread house display at the Sheraton Hotel. These are made of gingerbread people!

We took the monorail to go see the Space Needle.

We drove up to see the Chittenden Locks.

Checked out the Sound for a bit. Then went and grabbed some dinner and drove back to Elder and Sister Foulgers.

We were glad to here that Calum and Ailee had had a fun day with Grandma and Grandpa. Really though, they just had a fun week hanging out with them, jumping on the beds, and what not. Ailee was able to open their doors cause they were just pull down handles. So we had to lock all the doors because of course Ailee would make a beeline for the toilet every chance she got. She also managed to get outside onetime!! Crazy girl.

Calum wanted me to take a picture of him, and this is how he posed, haha.

Classic grandpa

It was really clear for our drive home so that was nice. We spotted Mt St Helens and Mt Hood, it was pretty awesome.

The kids did good. only took us 10 1/2 hours and a million stops to get home! Buh.

And of course of kids schedules got all out of whack. This was them not wanting to go to sleep the night after we got home. They finally fell asleep at 1:15 am after lots of tantrums, screaming, flailing, monster sightings, weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth.

But it was totally worth it. So glad we got to see Keith and Ilene. We miss them lots and are so grateful for their awesome examples of service and sacrifice. You guys rock!
